August 21st, 2014 Cam Zink set a new world record in Mammoth Lakes by successfully completing the longest back flip on a mountain bike. The jump was reported to be 100 feet and 3 inches. Cam hit the jump at approximately 50 miles an hour and completed it with graceful ease. Watch the Video
The weather in Mammoth Lakes cooperated well as there was essentially no wind, no rain and perfect air temperature. I would estimate that 1000-1500 people were in attendance to watch the record event. For those that could not be present at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area to view the event in person, ESPN broadcasted the jump live. Other sponsors included, Monster Energy Drink, X Games, and of course Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.
