Looking for a great place to eat breakfast in Mammoth Lakes?
Here are a few suggestions for you and I’ve added my own personal highlights of why I like each:
Old New York Deli and Bagel Co.: is located in the Village at Mammoth and one of my favorites. In fact, its a place where I like to meet a lot of my clients because the food is consistently good. “The Deli” fronts along Minaret Road which makes it convenient for those looking to pull up and grab some food, or sit down for a family meal. This deli has everything from bagels to burritos and most of their dishes are hand made… including their breads and pastries. If you are looking to relax and stay a while, the Village parking lot and community center parking are just across the street. This is an easy stop for breakfast on the way up to the ski mountain or when looking for something easy to “grab and go”. The Old New York Deli has interior sit down dining on colder days and a patio dining when you want to enjoy the sun or people watching. Old New York Deli Menu
The Stove: The Stove is a iconic family breakfast joint located a the southern end of Old Mammoth Road. The Stove is best known for a hearty portion of comfort food, ideal for a snowy day in Mammoth Lakes. Its staple breakfast food… eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and of course their pies…! The Stove is only a block from the Mammoth Creek Park and the new Rock N Bowl bowling alley. Because of its popularity and small size there may be a short wait to get in, but its worth it.
The Breakfast Club has been a favorite among local residents for quite some time. It’s conveniently located at the entrance of town and can often be a secret stash when many other places are overflowing with customers. The owner is a creative operator with a lot of cow characteristics making up the restaurants theme. If you are looking to get married in Mammoth Lakes, the owner also makes specialty wedding cakes. Make sure to bring cash as this restaurant does not take credit cards.
The Good Life Cafe is located in the Mammoth Mall along Old Mammoth Road in Mammoth Lakes. This restaurant is well known for breakfast and lunch. If you are in town on a Tuesday make sure to try the turkey tacos with a side of “fish sauce” (a homemade sauce used on their fish tacos), its all you can eat but one service usually does it for me. Parking is very convenient and there typically isn’t a wait as the restaurant is relatively large with fast service. My favorite breakfast is the Southwest Scramble, a portion of seasoned turkey meat on corn tortilla with salsa.
Toomey’s if you are looking for something delicious and somewhat out of the ordinary… try Toomey’s. Chef Matt Toomey made the “Whoa Nelly Deli” at the entrance of Yosemite an international draw and is on his way to doing the same for his new location in Mammoth Lakes. Breakfast can be as unique as a smoked trout bagel to Coconut Mascarpone pancakes. If you are planning a special event, Toomey’s can cater as well. Toomey’s is located at the southern edge of the Village at Mammoth and has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Base Camp Cafe is appropriately named as it is a good resting place before heading up to the top of the ski mountain. Base Camp has traditional breakfast dishes as well as wraps and has a focus on healthier, or “earthy” type meals. Base Camp is centrally located on Main Street in Mammoth Lakes. The dining areas are small but they do have both inside and outside seating.
The East Side Bake Shop if you are on you way in or out of Mammoth Lakes, or if you are just looking for a great place to have breakfast you should give the East Side Bake Shop in Crowley Lake a try. Granted they are not located in Mammoth Lakes proper, but its worth a 10 minute drive to enjoy a healthy meal while gazing at the surrounding granite peaks. If you are around on a Saturday night, the owners invite bluegrass musicians enhance the ambiance of a wonderful and unique dinner experience.
That’s it for today’s suggestions on where to eat Breakfast in Mammoth Lakes.
