Tioga Pass in to Yosemite National Park Opens
On May 2nd, 2014 Tioga Pass (Highway 120) through Yosemite National Park will be open for the season. The road will be opening at noon tomorrow allowing vehicular traffic through the very popular park. There will be several toilets available along the road with limited visitor services over the next few weeks.
The early opening is attributed to a lighter than normal snow year and cooperation between local government organizations and the National Park Service. Although the pass is open, commercial services will not be available until later dates. This includes gas stations, stores and Village grill.
Details on the opening can be found by following this link: Yosemite National Park Road Open
In Mammoth Lakes, efforts to open the Mammoth Lakes Basin were also successful. Lake Mary Road to the upper basin has been plowed and there are reports that the gate past Twin Lakes was opened today, May 1st.
While the Eastern Sierra has experienced a challenging winter, we are looking forward to a fun and adventurous summer.
