Commercial Air Service
In 2007 Mammoth Yosemite Airport delivered commercial air service from Los Angeles by way of Horizon Air (Alaska Airlines). This flight signified the first of many successful flights. The aircraft used are the Bombardier Q400 (Alaska Flights), a 70 passenger turbo prop, and the CRJ7 flown by United Airlines.
Enplanements to the area have been steadily increasing, demonstrating a need for additional flights and service to new destinations.
With future flights in discussion to other major cities, the Town of Mammoth Lakes has recognized a need to expand the existing terminal to accommodate additional aircraft. The proposed airport expansion includes a 40,000 square foot terminal, making room for 4 aircraft at one time.
The current summer flight schedule offers round-trip service to Mammoth Lakes from Los Angeles with the flight durations of just around 1 hour.
Winter schedules for the 2o14-2015 winter season will include flight from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, and now Las Vegas.
