Current staffing for our department is 11 sworn officers, serving its 8,000 residents. When populations swell during the busy seasons, the Mammoth Lakes Police Department works with the Mono County Sheriff’s Department and Bishop Police Department for additional staffing.
The Mammoth Lakes Police Department is located near the south end of town and is only a couple of blocks from the local schools, Vons grocery store, and most parks.
The Police Department is led by Chief Al Davis, a seasoned officer from Ventura, California. Chief Davis has taken an active role in the community and displays professional characteristics ideal for a small mountain town.
