2015 Summer Events in Mammoth Lakes: Festivals, Music, and Things to do
Monster Energy- Mammoth Motocross – June 19th – 28th – The oldest continuously running motocross in the world. Riders from around the world test their skill at this high altitude event.
Mammoth Half Marathon and 5K – June 12th – Gather in the Lakes Basin of Mammoth Lakes and test your skills in this downhill, high altitude run. This is a scenic run you won’t forget anytime soon. Lakes, mountains, music and fun.
“Gimme Shelter” Carnival – July 8th – July 12th in the Rafters parking lot. The Gimme Shelter Carnival is a new event catering to families and kids of all ages.
Mammoth Villagefest – July 24th – 26th : The Mammoth Villagefest, held in the Village at Mammoth, is a fun festival filled with music and food. It has also been named the “Highest Rib and Chili Cookoff” in the world. Please visit Mammoth Villagefest for more information.
Bluesapalooza / Mammoth Festival of Beers – July 30th – August 2nd : Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza is one of the premier signature events in Mammoth Lakes. This event started in the parking lot of what is now the Mammoth Brewing Company (formerly Whiskey Creek) and has expanded to fill the 4.04 acre Woodsite. Last year this event brought in more than 65 Micro brewery for a weekend filled with beer tasting and world class blues. This is a ticketed event and tickets usually sell out before the event. Fine Arts and Crafts Festival – July 31st – August 2nd: The Mammoth Fine Arts and Crafts Festival is going on its 40th year of displaying a wide variety of quality arts and crafts. Photography, paintings, oils, watercolors, hand crafts, jewelry, woodworking and much more will be on display. Find more information at Mammoth Fine Arts and Crafts.
Mammoth Margarita Festival – August 7th – 8th: 4th Annual! While margaritas are certainly a key component of this event, the tasting aspect is more largely on quality tequilas. At this event you will be able to taste tequilas, margaritas, learn about the tequila making process, experience what it’s like to eat a scorpion, and listing to wonderful latin based music. Mammoth Rocks – Taste of the Sierra – August 21st – 22nd: Mammoth Rocks is fun musical event with a primary focus on tributes to classic rock and roll. In addition to two days of fun music, the Taste of the Sierra component will also have a variety of restaurants showcasing a sampling of foods from around the Eastern Sierra. Mammoth Reggae Festival – August 28th – 29th: Beats, Booze, BBQ and more pretty much sum up the Mammoth Raggae Festival. 10 band! The festival has a music base around the reggae genre while the food is focused on Chicken, BBQ, and Chili. Mammoth Reggae Festival
Hop ‘n’ Sage – September 12th: Hop ‘n’ Sage signifies the end of the summer music festival and is produced by the same people that bring us Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza. This is a special event to honor all those that help make all the festivals in Mammoth Lakes possible, including our guests, locals residents, neighbors and volunteers. Mammoth Gran Fondo – September 12th : This cycling event was picked at one of the “Top-Ten Century” rides by Bicycling Magazine in 2012. If the 102 mile road ride is too much, there are shorter options available. All have beautiful mountain scenery with good pavement. Kamikaze Bike Games – September 24th – 27th: This legendary event effectively started on ski resort mountain biking. This year’s games will not only host the classic Kamikaze, but also endure, a new cyclocross in two stages, XC, Dual Slalom, freeride, and more.
