Al Fresco Dining in Mammoth Lakes
Summer is here! As things open, many people are escaping the confines of cities to come enjoy our beautiful mountain town. After months of lock-down and uncertainty, we are all in need of some fresh air and some stress relief. Thus, outdoor activity has exploded in popularity, and Mammoth Lakes offers many activities you can check off your adventure list!
After a long weekend of camping with the family or after enjoying one of our many hiking trails, you will most certainly have worked up an appetite. Mammoth offers many dining options…from a quick pre-hike coffee and muffin to the perfect burger and beer!
If You, like us, are unsure of what is open or what the current guidelines are(July 23, 2020), here is a brief update, as well as a short list of some of our favorite restaurants and coffee shops…including some items on their menus.
As of July 23rd, all indoor dining has been suspended until further notice. Luckily, Mammoth is the perfect town to dine al fresco! Below are some general guidelines:
- Outdoor dining only
- Tables are to be arranged six feet apart.
- Guests are encouraged to call ahead for reservations and enter patios only when tables are ready.
- Masks are required when entering/leaving establishments.
We suggest visiting restaurants websites or calling directly for the most up to date guidelines. A few of our favorite dining establishments are:
Warming Hut
Be sure to try the Mountain Cuban. It is sooooo good.
Distant Brewing (formerly Black Doubt)
We are in love with the pull apart pretzel and the dipping sauce! Perfect with a locally
brewed craft beer. The Peanut Butter Stout is a local fav.
Mammoth Tavern
The best happy hour in town! We love the short rib grilled cheese and one of their original craft cocktails.
East Side Bake Shop
Cute little get away located in the McGee Creek community, about a mile west of Crowley Lake on the side of Highway 395. Best baked goods in the Eastern Sierra. Although this well-loved, hidden gem (1561 Crowley Lake Dr.) is closed this summer, the owner has set up the cutest stand offering yummy homemade bread and other baked goods. Delicious coffee too! Perfect for a stop on the way into town or for the drive home.
We love our town. As our businesses are doing their part to keep their restaurants, workers, and guests safe, we ask you to please do your part by adhering to these basic safety and etiquette guidelines:
- Wash and/or sanitize your hands often.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- And please, stay home if you are feeling sick.
