Hello Mammoth and thank you for joining me on this February edition of the Mammoth Lakes Real Estate Report, “In Lehman’s Terms” as always, the statistics in this report reflect an assemblage of sales collected over the 6 month period prior to this broadcast. If there is any information you miss or want to learn more about, please visit our website at www.MatthewLehmanRealEstate.com and look for the Market Trends tab on our home page. You can also email me at [email protected] and I can send you my most current market trend report. (If you want to hear our podcast just click here); its 2 minutes long.
As of February 2015 the median home price was $618,000 for a single family residence in Mammoth Lakes and the median condominium price was $282,000. This is consistent, to slightly below, the median pricing for all of 2014.
One interesting fact, there was a home sale in December of 2014 at $4,250,000. This home sale sets a new high for single family homes in Mammoth Lakes in recent years.
If there is a reason to purchase a new home or condo in today’s market its attractive interest rates… they are about as low as they can possibly go.
As I mentioned in my last broadcast there were some larger parcels of land near the Village at Mammoth under contract for purchase, well Matthew Lehman Real Estate just put 2.1 of a total 8 acres under contract and we hope to see some new energy in this area in the not too distant future.
Finally, I want to take minute to express my sympathies to those impacted by the recent firestorm that swept through the community of Swall Meadows. Its my understanding that nearly 40 structures with devastated and many friend and families were displaced. I heard that the out pour of support for this community was so great that nobody needed to stay in a shelter and there has been abundant financial and clothing donations. This said, we should keep our ears open for future aid needed for this area. This is also a reminder just how important it is to carry ample home owners insurance with full replacement value. We live in a high fire danger area and these tragedies come along with little warning.
